Proposed Rule Change

Players with significant physical impairments that impact balance or mobility may allow the ball to bounce twice before returning it, including serves.
Two-Bounce Rule Guidelines:
• The second bounce may occur anywhere on the playing surface (in or out of bounds).
• The player must return the ball before a third bounce.
• If the ball strikes a permanent object (e.g., fence, wall) before the second bounce, it is a dead ball and the rally ends.
• Players must declare use of the two-bounce rule prior to the match.
• Players using the two-bounce rule may be required to wear a visible marker (e.g., wristband) during match play.
• Only players meeting self-assessment or verified eligibility criteria may use the two-bounce allowance in both Adaptive and Hybrid divisions.
• If there is any doubt about the player’s eligibility for the two-bounce allowance, that player should not take the two-bounce allowance. The spirit of this rule is to create a more even playing field in the Adaptive Standing Division.

Original Rule Text

No existing two-bounce allowance rule for standing divisions.

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

This rule provides an important accommodation that helps players with balance or mobility impairments compete fairly and safely while preserving competitive integrity.

Scenarios In Which the Rules Applies

Applies to Adaptive Standing Division and Hybrid matches where the two-bounce allowance is declared and eligible.
