I do not support this change, as it introduces a scenario which rarely, if ever happens, much like the rule that allows a player to hit a ball with their paddle under the net.

This rule change appears to follow guiding principles and the spirit of fair play by permitting a player to pick up their partners paddle without being charged a penalty.

I like this change because it clears up the issue of holding more then one paddle and defines what you can't do.
