Rule Submission Title | Out balls-partner communication |
---|---|
USAP Board Voting Status | Failed |
USAP Rules Committee Voting Status | Failed. Reason same as 277. |
Existing Rule # | 6.D.11. |
Proposed Rule Change | Yell "bounce" rather than out when communicating a possible out ball |
Original Rule Text | While the ball is in the air, if a player yells “out,” “no,” “bounce it,” or any other words to communicate to |
Reasoning Behind Suggested Change | Too many posts on the Forum complaining about a partner calling out before a ball has bounced and teams getting confused that it's partner communication. Personally I think the rule currently is clear cut but it causes many questions and problems if you read the Forum or Ask the Referee Facebook pages. |
Scenarios In Which the Rules Applies | When a partner communicates a possible out ball that ends up being in. Opposing teams don't understand its partner communication |
