| Proposed Rule Change (edited) | 2026 Rule 10.C.5 Fault – Ball Hits Permanent Object After Landing. When a player fails to return a ball that has bounced in that player’s court before the ball contacts a permanent object, it is a fault against that player. |
| Proposed Rule Change | 11.K Net Posts. It is a fault if a player contacts the net post while the ball is live. A ball contacting the net post results in a dead ball and the team that hit the ball loses the rally. Exception Rule 8.D |
| Original Rule Text | 11.K Net Posts. It is a fault if a player contacts the net post while the ball is live. A ball contacting the net post results in a dead ball and the team that hit the ball loses the rally. |
| Reasoning Behind Suggested Change | The current rule 11.K creates a fault for the ball hitting the net post with no mention that if it has gone over the net first it is actually a rally winner. Adding the exception solves this omission. |
| Scenarios In Which the Rules Applies | If the ball goes over the net, bounces and then spins or is blown into the net post, it is entirely possible that a player could claim that is a fault and use 11.K to prove it is. Adding the exception points them to the, ummm...exception. |
