In non-officiated matches, players may carry additional ball(s) as long as the ball(s) are carried in a way that the ball(s) are not visible to their opponent during play. If an additional ball falls on the court surface during play, a fault shall be declared.

IFP Rules Committee:

IN NON-OFFICIATED MATCHES, IF A PLAYER IS CARRYING A BALL AND THE BALL LANDS ON THE GROUND, A FAULT SHALL BE CALLED.

Proposed Rule Change

Any player that chooses to carry a spare pickleball shall only do so, if the spare pickleball is carried in their pocket, wristband pouch or tucked under their clothing on their hip

or elsewhere and shall not be carried in such a manner that it could be a distraction in an opponent's field of vision.

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

I would like to write a Rule for consideration in the next time Rule changes are implemented.

Mainly because, during fast volleying the sight of a second pickleball in your field of vision is distracting. A 5" neon wristband does not look anything like a neon pickleball.

I don't know of a single sport that allows a player to carry a spare ball in their free hand that would be in their opponent's field of vision.

Not baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc. Could you imagine a first basemen carrying a spare baseball in his bare hand, a running back

carrying a spare football during live play.

No sport I am familiar with allows a spare ball on the court or field of play during the game. Unless it is hidden away in a players pocket and out of view of an opponent.

Even a baseball umpire carries spare balls in their pocket or black pouch.

Proposed Rule: Any player that chooses to carry a spare pickleball shall only do so, if the spare pickleball is carried in their pocket, wristband pouch or tucked under their clothing on their hip

or elsewhere and shall not be carried in such a manner that it could be a distraction in an opponent's field of vision.

Thank you for your consideration,
