2.E.4. Weight. There is no restriction on paddle weight.

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

When I started pickleball I played with at least five players out of 20 who used the paddle as a weapon to get me off the court because they didn't want to play with a newer player.
Lead tape makes the paddle heavier and MUCH more dangerous .The ball ,that is normally fairly benign and bounces harmlessly off has potential to cause real damage.
A "poor sport" that we play with now has weighted his paddle with lead tape .
He can't imagine that any of his perfect shots could be called "out of bounds". He gets really angry . He deliberately directs his shots at people's faces ,hands- any exposed parts of the body. I've seen him hit a woman in the face because she was winning the volley .She kept returning the ball and he knew that a shot to the face would be hard to return-she had a big lump on her chin for days .(This was not an accident-He has gotten very good at targeting and deliberately and often targets an opponent with his weighted paddle when he's losing a rally)
Sometimes in a rotating group it's unavoidable to have to play with him .I've gotten good at blocking body shots but I've seen him hit even our fastest players.
When I was a beginner.I played with a seasoned player that often played with our (more advanced) group. Every time I played with him he "accidentally" managed to get a face shot in. At first I really thought it was an accident -and then I realized he was hitting me on purpose to get me off the court.
Fortunately he had not added lead to his paddle and my teeth weren't damaged -it did bruise my mouth ).
My game (and self defense) got better but I see no reason to give a mean spirited player an added weapon !
Adding weight to the paddle
Adds to the potential of these hits causing real harm .

I've been hit in the teeth (as I mentioned) in the nose, and the temple .
The player with the weight added hit my finger and it went numb. I had to ice it to bring back sensation.
Fortunately as a beginner the players I encountered had not added lead tape and my teeth weren't broken .
In spite of the danger many people do not use goggles.( I do now but occasionally forgot or misplaced them as a beginner ). Even with a barrier the ball can get through. Someone had his glasses destroyed last evening-It was getting dark -the ball slid up off his paddle into his face and shattered them .

This was shared on another pickleball group that I am part of.

"To my Pickleball friends: Yesterday I had my fifth appointment after taking a pickleball in my eye a few weeks ago. The good news is the inflammation, cornea abrasions, and tears in my iris have healed. One small problem is that the pupil is not going to dilate like it should and that will be a permanent issue. That eye will be light-sensitive so I will need to wear sunglasses more often. The other not-so-good news is the pressure in my eye is still elevated. The compression from the hit has caused my eye's drainage system to clog (pigmentary glaucoma). I will be scheduled for laser surgery to poke some holes in my iris to allow drainage and relieve the pressure."
Bottom line the ball comes in much faster and harder with a lead tape weighted paddle .Some people are mean spirited players with no concern for safety of their opponent. I am asking you set a weight limit paddles. The exterior balls we use also break when this player hits them causing a problem with replacing balls .I notice a BIG difference in how fast and hard the ball is coming in compared to before he weighted his paddle . I myself accidentally sent a player to urgent care .He was on my side and turned to see my hit which came up from the floor .He took the shot at close range squarely to his left eye and it ruptured in blood .Fortunately my paddle was NOT weighted and he recovered completely.
