By rule, it should be clear that players are obligated to observe the rules and apply them, starting by calling faults on themselves... For several years, discussions on public forums, and specifically on "Ask the (USA Pickleball) Refs, are filled with posts by players whom, by their interpretation of the rules, feel that there are a variety of situations that exonerate them from admitting to a violation of the rules, which they know they have committed.
