Rule Submission TitleBall is dead when it bounces
Existing Rule #10.C.2
Proposed Rule Change

10.C.2 Fault – Ball Lands on Player’s Side of Net. When a player hits a ball that fails to cross the net and lands on the player’s side of the net, it is a fault against that player.  The ball is dead when it bounces on the player's side of the net

Original Rule Text

10.C.2 Fault – Ball Lands on Player’s Side of Net. When a player hits a ball that fails to cross the net and lands on the player’s side of the net, it is a fault against that player.

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

It's important to note when the ball is dead since certain actions can occur after it's dead.  The current rule is rather vague on when the ball is dead.

Scenarios In Which the Rules Applies

Player A1 hits the ball into the net and, as it falls toward the ground, player B24 attempts and Erne and, in the attempt, crosses the plane of the net before the ball bounces on A1's side of the net.  This would be a fault as the ball is not yet dead.
