Original Rule Text

Hinder. Any transient element or occurrence not caused by a player that adversely impacts play. Examples include, but are not limited to, stray balls, flying insects, foreign material, players, or officials on another court that impacted a player’s ability to make a play on the ball. (Permanent objects are not hinders.)

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

The current rule says that players on another court can be a hinder but it's only when they come onto your court or playing surface that they hinder you.  You can't hinder someone coming onto your court.

Also, officials can't be hinders if they are where they should be since they are permanent objects, as noted by the parenthetical.

Scenarios In Which the Rules Applies

Player A1 on court 12 is playing a rally when player Q3 from an adjacent court, chasing an angled shot from her opponent, comes onto court 12.  It is a valid hinder for A1 but not one for Q3.
