Rule Submission Title13.D.1.a. Player calling fault on themselves
Existing Rule #13.D.1.a.
Proposed Rule Change

13.D.1.a. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, players are expected to call any type of fault on themselves as soon as the fault is committed or detected. In doubles, either player of the team may call a fault on their team, even if their teammate disagrees that a fault was committed. The fault call must happen before the next serve occurs.

Original Rule Text

13.D.1.a. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, players are expected to call any type of fault on themselves as soon as the fault is committed or detected. The fault call must happen before the next serve occurs.

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

This addresses situations in doubles games where three players of the four players in the game agree that a fault was committed, but one player of the offending team refuses to concede and prevents his teammate from calling the fault on themselves.

Scenarios In Which the Rules Applies

All doubles games and matches that are not officiated, where in the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship, a player needs the authority to call a fault on his own team.
