Original Rule Text

10.B.2.a. The time-out must be continuous and may be up to 15 minutes. If the player uses fewer than 15 minutes, the remaining time is lost and no additional medical time will be available to the player during the match.

10.B.2.b. If the player cannot resume play after the 15-minute medical time-out period, the match will be declared a retirement.

Reasoning Behind Suggested Change

Currently Case 11-23 TIMING A MEDICAL TIME OUT, is in violation of Rule 10.B.2.a.  This proposed rules change closes the rules gap that is addressed by Casebook Case 11-23.  If accepted, Casebook Case 11-23 can be eliminated.   If this rule change is not approved then Case 11-23 must be updated to comply with the rules.
